The key mission of the Diocesan Church is to preach the Gospel to all the people living in the area of the Diocese (Apostolate) and care for the people who belong to the church (Pastoral care). The responsibility of the Bishop is to gather the people in the Holy Spirit; the means proposed for this are the proclamation of the Gospel and the celebration of the Eucharist.
This means that the task of the Church is to lead people to the knowledge of God. The Diocese while entrusted to the Bishop sees propagation of the faith as its priority area. The focus of the African Synod is the family of God. The diocese through the propagation of the faith is addressing issues that the pressures of modern life have brought on the social fabric. These include the family, youth, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable and marginalized people. Therefore, it is from here that the diocese has 49 parishes to make sure that every Catholic is reached where he or she is within the diocese.
